Learn English Fast: September A1 to A2 Challenge

One of my earliest memories of speaking English was in primary school in Ukraine. I must’ve been six or seven when I proudly said, “I like cats.” It was a tiny sentence, but my teacher applauded—and to me, it felt like I’d just won a gold medal.

Now, many years (and a few languages) later, I’ve realized something: the toughest part of learning a language isn’t going from advanced to fluent. It’s that first real stretch—from A1 to A2.

It’s the difference between saying “I like cats” and being able to explain, “I like cats, but not the neighbor’s cat—she bites. I’m more of a dog person, especially the sleepy ones that don’t mind sharing the couch.”

That shift might seem small, but it’s everything. It’s the moment you go from just getting by to actually expressing yourself.

That shift might seem small, but it’s everything. It’s the moment you go from just getting by to actually expressing yourself.

That’s what the September Challenge is about. Ten days. Ten focused, practical lessons. One purpose: helping you break through that A1 wall and reach A2—with structure, support, and steady progress.

Curious how I fit language learning into a busy day — without spending hours studying?

In my new ebook, Fluent in 10 Minutes a Day: How Microlearning & Microhabits Changed the Way I Learn Languages, I share the exact habits, routines, and mindset shifts that helped me make real progress in just minutes a day.

Why join a challenge?

Because motivation has a habit of disappearing when you’re not looking—like those socks that vanish into thin air.

Step-up English Challenge

But a short, focused challenge changes the game. It gives you three key things:

Inside This Month’s English Challenge

Get ready for 10 days of focused, practical learning. Each day highlights a small, specific skill—whether it’s grammar, speaking, listening, or vocabulary—designed to help you feel more confident using English in real life. This isn’t about boring drills or textbook phrases. It’s about language you can actually use.

Here’s the plan:

  • Day 1: Make a Confident First Impression – Intro Yourself

  • Day 2: Everyday Words That Actually Matter

  • Day 3: Master the Art of Asking Questions

  • Day 4: Sharpen Your Ears – Easy Listening Tips

  • Day 5: Talk Through Your Day with Ease

  • Day 6: Grammar Focus – Present Simple & “To Be”

  • Day 7: Link Words Together for Better Recall

  • Day 8: Speak Up – Boost Your Conversation Confidence

  • Day 9: Use English That Feels Real and Relevant

  • Day 10: Test Your Progress + Celebrate Your Win

How to Join the September English Challenge

Here’s how to keep it simple and actually stick with it:

  • Just 15–20 minutes a day. That’s all it takes. Squeeze it in while your toast is toasting or during a quick break—it’s totally doable.
  • Consistency beats cramming. Short, daily sessions will get you further than a once-a-week study binge. (Says the graveyard of my old Italian flashcards.)
  • Say it out loud. Doesn’t matter if you’re talking to your plants, the mirror, or a voice note—speaking regularly is key, even if it feels silly.
  • Keep it light and fun. Make goofy sentences, use words that mean something to you, and laugh at your mistakes. That’s how language really sticks.

My Go-To Tips for Making It Through (and Having Fun)

  1. Let it be awkward. Your first few sentences might sound clunky or unnatural—totally normal. That’s just your brain learning.
  2. Track your progress. Use a calendar or notebook to check off each day you practice. Watching those marks add up feels great.
  3. Celebrate the small stuff. If today you said, “I like pizza,” and tomorrow you manage, “I like pizza, but my lasagna’s a mess,” you’re already leveling up.

Time to Begin

You’re ready for this. In just 10 days, you won’t just use English—you’ll own it. You’ll look back and realize, “Hey, I’m actually getting the hang of this.”

Each lesson will be added right here as we go, so bookmark this page and pop in daily. Miss a day? No big deal. Just pick it back up—no pressure, no shame.

Now your turn: What’s one thing you really want to say in English with confidence by the end of this challenge? Share it in the comments—I’ll be the first to cheer you on.
