When I started learning foreign languages like French, German and Italian, I developed a method that really helped me. I wrote down sentences and phrases containing words for everyday use.

Then I got into the habit of memorising these sentences and expressions, often while I was travelling by train or watching a not particularly exciting TV show.

From my point of view, I don’t think memorising individual vocabulary words is that useful. What really matters is learning whole sentences. Because in real life, we communicate with sentences, even the simplest ones, not with isolated words.

I’ve put together a list of 200 useful words and example sentences that can be helpful in everyday French conversation.
